Tooth Fairy Duties...

This week turned out to be quite the busy week for the tooth fairy!

Alexander lost his first tooth Monday morning while brushing his teeth. Then he lost his 2nd tooth during lunch, the same day! He thinks he swallowed it while eating because he never found it.

So the Tooth Fairy paid a visit Monday night - bringing a note, some fairy dust and two crisp $2 bills. One for each tooth.

THEN...he lost his third tooth!

He was out playing on the playground and thinks he pushed it out with his tongue (it didn't have the other two teeth for support). This was on Tuesday but because we had no tooth, we couldn't tell.

Wednesday night, Alexander & I did a little tooth-counting exercise and confirmed he did in fact lose another tooth, for a total of 3.

The Tooth Fairy came again and left another crisp $2 bill.

I have a feeling now that they have started coming out, they might all just start falling out at once. I hope the Tooth Fairy is prepared and loaded up with fairy dust!

Official...

It's official...Alexander has hit another milestone, just a week & a half after his 6th birthday.

He lost his first tooth!

He has been teasing (or fibbing depending on how you look at it) that he lost his tooth for about a week now. However, you can tell he hasn't because he's not excited. This morning, he went in to brush his teeth using his timer. And I don't know if he was trying to beat the timer or brush hard to get the tooth out, but it worked! His tooth came out! Along with a lot of blood. Who knew losing a tooth caused that much blood. I think it was because of how it came out - the pressure of the tooth brush and the force of a 6 yr old.
We cleaned up the little tooth and he rinsed his mouth until the blood stopped - it wasn't that long, but did surprise me with the amount of blood. It was unexpected to say the least.

He was so excited to be able to go to school and finally put a mark on the tooth board, and also be the first one for April.

He has a 2nd wiggly tooth right next to the first one so I won't be surprised if that falls out fairly quickly as it no longer has support.

It exciting stuff and we're getting ready for the tooth fairy!

Turns 6...

Six. Alexander turns 6 today. It's amazing how quickly time flies - I remember when he was just 6 months old lying on a blanket with his cute cheeks and chubby baby thighs.

Now he's 6 and growing up, fast. He is in kindergarten. He has two wiggly teeth which are due to come out any day. He has a girl, Annabelle, who loves him. And before I know it he'll be 12 and I'll be wondering where his elementary years went.

But for now I'm going to enjoy these precious days and memories because every day is fun and a blessing!

And I'm beyond lucky to be his mom and watch him grow into a fantastic, special, funny, and handsome little guy!

Happy 6th Birthday, Alexander!

Love you always,
Mom xoxo

First Day of Kindergarten...

The day has finally arrived - Alexander's first day of kindergarten!

He was so excited this morning - getting ready, posing for pictures, giving hugs! He was so grown up and wanted to make sure he did his own hair. He also couldn't wait to show off his new backpack!

His teacher, Mrs. Risi, asked him what name he wants to go by to which he replied, without any prompting or assistance, "Alexander". He made me one happy Mom. He was so cool and collected lining up and walking into class. I was so proud watching him walk in.
My little guy is all grown up...and I was good I held my tears in until after he walked in.

Kindergarten Orientation...

It's Official! Alexander has attended orientation for kindergarten! It's hard to believe that he'll be going to kindergarten in the fall and he's so excited!

Orientation went very well! The kids got to meet the principal, read a few stories in the kindergarten class with the teachers and then got some free play time. Alexander is fortunate to go to school with Christina & Sean who's been going to school with since they were all 3-6 months old, so it's great for all of them.

The parents were ushered into the library and informed the kids were doing just fine and that the parents needed more assistance with the transition. The principal walked the parents through the schedule and what to expect come first day of school. It's exciting!

Hard to believe my baby is going to be going to school but very exciting!!

Mother's Day Brunch...

I got the best Mother's Day present this year! Alexander & his class held a special Mother's Day breakfast for us. We got a lovely breakfast the kids helped put together. Then we got to find our special picture each child made for their special time with their Mom's and we each got a present - a beautiful string of pearls!

And then the kids got together and sang their Mom's the cutest song - just for us! And yes, my little guy was not only incredibly enthused but he was also the loudest singer

Five Year Check-up...

Alexander had his Five Year check-up appointment today with Dr. M.

He passed everything with flying colors - hearing, vision, and showing off his sense of humor!
Dr. M was impressed with his growth and seemed to really enjoy the conversation the two had. Dr. M asked him about school, activities, what he likes to play with. At one point he asked him what he likes to eat and Alexander responded with 'broccoli & carrots'. Dr. M asked me if I prepped him for the questions. It didn't look any better for me when Alexander "whispered" to me to make sure we tell Dr. M about all the vitamins he takes. Needless to say it was a great visit, Dr. M is pleased with his progress and Alexander is one healthy, happy little boy!

Weekend Activities...

Alexander had another busy & fun weekend - Saturday was jam-packed!

Mommy & Alexander headed to gymnastics in the morning where we met up with Mimi. He did such an amazing job in class with his monkey jumps, backwards rolls and ring hang.

After gymnastics, Mommy & Alexander headed to Aidan's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese! It was crazy but the kids had a blast. Alexander mainly hung out with Sam as the two of them ran around deciding which games they wanted to play and see how many tickets they could get. They played lots of games before pizza & cake. At first most of the boys had seats at the end of the table near Aidan. Then they saw that the 'puppets' on stage would be dancing so they all decided to move their seats to the far end of the table. Watching from afar seemed like a much better idea. They had their pizza & cake and wanted to go use up the rest of the tokens on games. We used them up and then Dad joined us at Chuck E Cheese.

From there, Dad & Alexander headed to the next party for cousin Chris at uncle Steven's. Alexander told me that he had a lot of fun playing with the boys as they played together all afternoon. That night he fell asleep very quickly.

On Sunday, Dad & Alexander went bowling for a few hours with Matt, Michael, grandma & pop-pop. Alexander said he got lots of gutter balls but still had a lot of fun bowling. Then that afternoon, Mommy & Alexander played superheros, coloring, and worked on his class thank you cards.

Party Fun...

Today was Aidan's 5th birthday party! They had a party at Chuck E Cheese - and Alexander was so excited. He ran around the whole time playing games with Sam.

They got to play games, earn tickets, have some pizza & cake while they watched the Chuck E Cheese show sing to the Birthday kids. Then after lunch they got to run around and play more games. Perfect way to tire them out!

Irony...

Alexander managed to get through the first five years with minor incidents. He had the croup a couple times and did get a cast but that's about it. He's never had an ear ache or ear infection. That is until he turned five. He woke up, crying, the night of his birthday complaining of a sore throat and that his ear hurt.

He did have a little cold during the earlier part of the week (cough/sniffles) so that turned into a bit more. We stayed home today to rest as he wasn't feeling well and both ears ended up hurting. I called the doctors and they agreed it was good for us to go get checked out.

We met with Dr. D and she examined Alexander's ears & throat. He does have a minor ear infection in both ears. She said it was extremely small infection as there wasn't a lot of fluid but certainly would cause pain/discomfort.

Alexander & Mommy headed home to rest for the afternoon. We picked up his medicine and went home to cuddle & watch a movie. He did get a low-grade fever in the afternoon but once he took his grape medicine, he was starting to feel a bit better and fell asleep quickly tonight.

Here's hoping it passes quickly for the little guy.

Birthday Overload...

One can never have enough Birthday celebrations...tonight, Alexander asked to go out to dinner for his birthday! Mommy, Daddy & Alexander headed to Fridays for a birthday treat.

After eating dinner, the waitstaff asked if they could sing to him as they brought him over his chocolate dessert. He was very cute, being shy as they sang. (he kept moving around which is why the pictures are blurry)

Birthday Activities...

To celebrate Alexander's 5th Birthday, Mommy went into class this morning to read a couple books during circle time as well as bring cupcakes for snack time.

His class loved the books he picked out as we read one of his favorites (Just Going To The Dentist) and they loved the frog's side story.

During snack time, his class sang Happy Birthday and then got to eat cup cakes.

Happy 5th Birthday!

Happy 5th Birthday to the most wonderful & adorable kid! I can't believe how quickly five years has flown by. I can't wait to see what the rest of life has in store!

Alexander, you are the funniest, cutest, silliest, smartest little boy. Every day has been an adventure and I couldn't be more excited and proud to be your Mom! I love you!

Happy Birthday!
