Dentist Update...
We have an update from the Dentist Appointment
On the way to the dentist, Alexander threw up on the way as we were driving. Not a lot of things worse than having your poor little one throw up in the back seat as your driving...(he got sick due to bad strawberries)
One he got cleaned up and we got to the dentist, he was fine and he watched Mommy during her appointment - he was in a great mood! Then it was time for his appointment! At first he sat down and let Claire count & check his teeth. But once she showed him the air tool he freaked out and then he did NOT want his teeth polished! He was freaked out! We (Claire & I) did lots of talking, bribery - nothing worked to get him back in the chair. Finally Mommy had to hold him with a firm grip as he laid on my lap until he calmed down, but he was not very happy.
And once she was done that he was fine but the middle did not go so well!
Dentist Appt...
Today we have our 6 month dentist appointment. We'll see how well Alexander does with his check-up or if they say he should be brushing more often (which is what I'm expecting).
But at least Dr. G is not one he's afraid of and doesn't mind the dentist so I'm hoping today's appointment goes without issue.

Dentist Appt...
Today, Alexander & Mommy had their 6-month appointment at the dentist! Alexander did an exceptional job! Not only was he excited to go, but he was excited to sit up in the chair, get his teeth cleaned & then have Dr. G check his teeth! We also knew, from last time, not to tell him we were all done until we were in fact all done. If we said it too early, he'd want to get off the chair. So this time, we told him he was almost done when he asked and he was good with that. He sat on the chair and let Claire clean his teeth!
He also sat long enough for a fluoride rinse! We are so proud of how well he did and Dr. G said his teeth look good!

First Trip to the Dentist...
Alexander had his first trip to the dentist today and he did exceptionally well! As always, I was unsure how he'd do with any type of 'doctor' visit and even though we've been prepping about the dentist and having someone brush you're teeth, I was apprehensive.
However all my fears were unnecessary as he was a champ!
Mommy & Alexander both had our appointments to have our teeth cleaned at the same time so Daddy came with us in case Alexander freaked out. This way, Daddy could just take Alexander to school if there were any incidents. But he got into the chair, let the hygienist put on the bib & do her thing. She counted his teeth - 16 with the "2-yr" molars about to break in the back. Then she cleaned his teeth complete with the electric brusher. He was so good while she was cleaning his teeth and kept his mouth wide open.
Then Dr. G came in to do a check on his teeth and I was given the thumbs-up that everything looks good. The hygientist also told me to expect all of his teeth to fall out late due to the fact that he got them all late - which according to the old-wives-tale that's a good thing.
After Dr. G checked his teeth and told him he was all done, he was happy but seemed to be ready to get out of the chair. However the hygienist was ready to do the flouride rinse but because they had already told Alexander he was done, he wasn't having anything else go into his mouth. He started to whimper a bit, saying 'all done' so we didn't push it. Overall, it was a very successful first trip to the dentist!

Big Week...
We have a very big week coming up!
Not only is it St. Patrick's Day & Alexander's birthday party but we have Alexander's 3-yr check-up with Dr. M. To top it all off...Alexander is going to the dentist for the first time!
I've been doing a lot of prepping him for both the dentist appointment and his check-up. I've been telling him what Dr. M will do by checking his back, listening to his heart and looking in his ears. And so far he hasn't said "no Dr. M" which is progress. Each night this week that we brush teeth I explain that we have to make sure we have nice clean teeth because we're going to see the dentist next week and he's going to look in his mouth. He seems more excited that the dentist is going to have purple gloves.
I don't know if the dentist does have purple gloves or not...
I'll keep everyone posted on how both appointments go & what Alexander's reaction is.
