Update...
Just an update regarding potty training - I think we are fully complete, including night time! Not to jinx myself....
Alexander hasn't had nighttime pullups in over a month and hasn't had an accident in over a week.
Finger crossed!

Alexander hasn't had nighttime pullups in over a month and hasn't had an accident in over a week.
Finger crossed!
We've been on the "official" Potty training bandwagon for the past week. Everything before that has been getting him used to underwear and working on him to let us know when he has to use the bathroom.
At school, he's been wearing underwear rather than pull-ups and 3 of the 5 days, he came home in the same outfit he wore to school!
He does well telling us he needs to pee during bedtime (which I call the stalling tactic), also has been doing very well of staying fairly dry throughout the night and then letting us know first thing in the morning! And this is why we are limiting the beverages right before bedtime...we don't need to be woken at 4am with a "Mommy, I gotta pee!"
This weekend was 50/50....Saturday he was great in letting me know when he had to go and giving me plenty of notice to get him to a bathroom. We had ZERO accidents on Saturday! However, Sunday was a different story...although he still did great in telling me when he had to go pee and making sure he got into the bathroom, there were 4 accidents this weekend. One was questionable because he was all wet from playing outside and we dashed in because it started raining and Mommy was too slow getting to the door (I also didn't know he had to pee). However two incidents could have been avoided so we continue to march on in the battle of potty training...
But man, this potty training sure does rack of the small loads of laundry! Here's to a successful week of potty training both at home & at school!
Just a quick potty update (more for my own purposes so please feel free to pass on this post if you want)...
Alexander has been doing well at school - he's gone a few times each day (but one) on the potty. He even went #2 at school. This is a huge deal because before he wouldn't even tell you until after he went.
At home, he's been going potty every night and towards the end of the week he was telling us he had to go as soon as he woke up.
And on Saturday, he even went #2 for Daddy. Daddy was pretty impressed for a guy who doesn't like potty-talk!
This week, I'm going to send him to school in a pull-up (morning commute) but then they're going to try to keep him in underwear during the day. We'll see how this goes!
So it's kind of a big deal - we're excited!
We've had a very good week with Potty Training...
He's been telling us when he has to go to the potty (or has he says at school "I have pee in my body") and has been good about getting their on time.
He's been going every night before bed, if not a couple times. He even went yesterday morning once he woke up.
As for school, he used the potty twice on Monday, then again on Tuesday but also used it to go poo, and then today he used it twice!
Hoping this continues in a positive manner...keep those fingers crossed!
We're hopefully make some progress in the Potty Training world. This week, Alexander peed, standing up, in the toilet twice! And both times he let me know he had to go and then went potty standing up, without help.
It was quite entertaining! He would stand on his stool in front of the toilet and lean over, with his hand holding onto the seat. And then he would talk to himself saying "come on pee, come OOOONNNN!" The whole scene looked like a guy after a long night of drinking with the way he was leaning over and holding onto the seat.
But he did well and was able to put stickers on his potty chart both times so that got him excited!
One more step towards potty training although we're still no where close to being potty trained...but tonight before tubby, Alexander went pee in the potty standing up!
He was pretty excited about it and then he just stood off to the corner and couldn't decide if he "has more pee to come out". So he also did his first "pee-pee" dance which was quite hysterical.
So it was a very good night as we move forward with potty training however the mood did change quickly has I had to put diaper cream on his bum (he had a diaper rash) and he was so upset about it that he did end up peeing again but this time on the floor, which then only made himself more upset.
Even though I did tell him how great it was that he went in the big boy potty and how funny his new dance was...that didn't help the thought of the diaper cream.
We've been working with Alexander on potty training at home. It seems as if he does a bit better at school because there are other kids around who are going potty but at home he has NO desire. NONE.
We're trying the pull-up route and even big-boy underwear. He gets excited about the underwear and wearing it too! No matter how many times we asked him if he has to go potty or if he wants to use the big boy potty, he doesn't say anything. And when he has to go, he doesn't tell us until after. Even a wet, full diaper doesn't provoke him to tell us.
So early this evening I decided to do a little experiment...after changing a diaper, I decided to put big boy underwear on him and nothing else. I told him that because he didn't have a diaper or a pull-up on he was going to have to tell me when he needed to go pee and we'll use the big boy potty. He seemed excited about this notion.
Then we were in the kitchen and I was making his dinner and he was standing on the floor and just looked up at me and said "MOMMY PEE!" So I got excited thinking he was ready to go in the bathroom...but as it turns out he had just finished going pee in his pants.
Ahhhhh potty training.....
We have entered a new phase of parenthood: Potty Training! Alexander has started to express an interest in sitting on the potty even though he has yet to actually use it. We're not going to push the potty but only when he tells us he wants to use it...we'll see how this goes!
There have been a few times where Alexander has sat on the potty at school as they are helping prep him for Potty Training but nothing happened. Yesterday, he sat on the potty again at school so sitting on the potty is fresh in his mind.
Before we left for school today Alexander wanted to go potty. Although I don't think he had to go, I figured it would be good to try it out so he doesn't feel rejected. We sat on the potty for close to 10 minutes. Sometimes he would just sit there looking at me, other times he would laugh and say potty. I was trying to show him how to hold onto the seat with one hand while using his other hand to help point himself into the bowl. He wasn't all that excited about that while he would much rather have me do it.
After a while, he tells me he's done and proceeds to get toilet paper to wipe up. He seems to have all the steps down - potty, wiping, flushing. He's not a fan of having to wash his hands but his new stool seems to be helping. He's also not a fan of having a diaper put back on. Oh well.
After school that night, he sat on the potty again but nothing happened. I guess this phase is simply getting use to sitting on the potty. I have a potty chart where he gets stickers each time he does potty-related tasks but he really didn't seem to care just yet...so we're potty training one day at a time.
Alexander may have started potty training without being asked...
Wednesday night, we were giving Alexander his bath like we always do. We were finishing up and letting the water drain out. Alexander was standing there (I was holding onto him) and all of a sudden he started to pee in the bathtub. He seemed a bit confused and then thought he was supposed to do something with his hand as he went to help himself. Thankfully he didn't pee on his hands. But for the first time he didn't do all that bad.
Then Thursday night, we were getting the tub ready. Alexander was standing waiting patiently. Daddy took off the diaper and then all of a sudden I noticed Alexander was standing outside of the tub and was peeing on the floor - while standing. This time he was holding onto the tub.
We got two days in a row of him peeing while standing. This is by NO MEANS a time to start potty training, but something I thought was cute & funny. And it allowed me to clean the tub & floor which is never a bad thing for me.
