Chicita - the red jittery monkey

Alexander & his girlfriend, Chicita. Here he is talking to her and then a moment later, he planted a giant, wet, kiss on her nose. They make a cute couple, don't you agree?

Week Fourteen: At A Glance

Here's a look back at Week Fourteen (Monday, June 25th - Sunday, July 1st)

  • Spent the day with Grammie who took Alexander to his first Fair & won his first Carnival prize (Shamu)

  • Had our best day ever on Saturday - two great naps, ate right on schedule, excellent mood all day, didn't cry once, went right to bed at bedtime

  • Went to Castle Island for the first time with Auntie Alyson

  • Went to our first restaurant (Kelly's Landing in Southie) with Auntie Alyson

  • Auntie Alyson gave us our Christening outfit - ADORABLE. It's a shame he'll only wear this once

  • Second week of daycare complete which he does very well (napping & feeding well)

  • Everyone at daycare loves him, especially Miss Linda who comments on how handsome he is and his gorgeous wardrobe

  • Daddy picked up from daycare for the first time by himself

  • Noticed Grover and wanted to eat his nose

  • Got his first girlfriend, Chicita, the red jittery monkey toy who he loves

  • Did very well sleeping at night in his crib this week - either slept til 4:30am/5am or would only get up once

  • Fell asleep in his swing while Mommy played her music and it didn't phase him (Yah!)

  • Still loves taking baths and will kick & splash for a very long time

  • Holds his head up very well whether on his tummy or when being held upright

  • Loves to be bounced up & down

  • Eyes are less blue and more hazel

  • Loves to watch Mommy blowdry her hair and now gets a kick out of watching me put lotion on my arms

Castle Island...

For my entire life, Castle Island has been a fixture. We went there as children, teenagers, young adults & now. When I lived in Southie, I would go to Castle Island several times a week to go rollerblading. It's a great place to go walking, rollerblading or even to have a picnic. There's a little building where you get can ice cream, hot dogs, sodas & the best french fries! It's right on the water and you get an amazing view of Boston's skyline which is always the highlight for me.

I knew I wanted to bring Alexander there and that it will be a place we visit often when it's nice out. So Alyson & I took him for his first visit on Saturday. We walked out to the Sugar Bowl (which was actually missing and took Alyson & I by surprise). Our plan was to walk back and get some french fries by the line was out the door into the parking lot so we decided to go to Kelly's Landing instead. Alexander would experience two "firsts" - Castle Island & a restaurant.

Since he had taken a 2 hour nap and I had a bottle, I thought we'd be all set for the restaurant. And luckily we were. He was very good with only a few loud outbursts, but nothing bad at all. It wasn't crowded so we didn't feel bad for being "those" people to bring a baby into a restaurant. Plus, everyone commented as to how cute he was.

He did very well with is first trip to Southie and I can't wait to take him back when he's older to play on the playground!

First Fireworks

Tonight our town held it's annual fireworks. These are held over the lake and the High School track which is less than two tenths of a mile from our house. Now normally this is fun because we just have to walk out our door over to the track right before the fireworks start and walk back to our house and not worry about dealing with driving (because our street gets CRAZY-BUSY).

Well this year, it was a bit different in the sense that Alexander is a) here and b) would be sleeping. We decided to pass on going over to see them and just keep with his bedtime routine. We knew that it might be interrupted with the noise of the fireworks. However, we "brought" him anyway. Not really - but we stood on our front yard and took the monitor outside with us.

How he did not wake up from the noise & bangs, I'll never know. But he slept through it all and Daddy got to see fireworks, even if it was through our neighbors trees.

Second week of daycare - Complete...

The second week of daycare is in the books! He did very well & the women at daycare still adore him. He took naps everyday & he was rarely fussy. I'm trying to keep to daycare schedule during the weekends and in fact, he's napping in his swing as I type. I should take advantage of this time and take a shower!
For your viewing pleasure...
Here's the lovely drool-boy before 'school' on Friday. He was playing with his toys & new froggy. I think he looks really good in bright blue.
Even with the drool - he's cute!

This was Thursday night. We did a little tummy time on our lilly pad. He's really good at holding his head up. However, he doesn't want to lie there, he much rather tries to scoot forward. Then he gets annoyed that it's not going fast enough.

Edible...

Here are a few cute pictures of Alexander from yesterday (June 26th). CMS

The first one was taken in the morning before we left for "school". I just thought his expression was priceless. Almost a "are you really taking my picture? Are you talking to me?"

The the other one was taken when we got home and it was just about time for bed. He started slurping on his hand and wouldn't stop. When he starts slurping, there's no stopping unless you're ready to feed him!

You've Got a Friend...

Finally, after Thirteen & a half Weeks with Grover next to his head everytime Alexander sat in the bobby pillow, he finally took notice of Grover and actually reached out for him.

Once I put Grover in his reach, he grabbed on and wouldn't let go for a bit. He even chewed on his nose. It was quite cute even though Alexander's motive was strictly to put it in his mouth.

Here they are getting to know each other with a friendly hug.

Alexander is about to explain to Grover that it's not personal but he's going to chew on his nose.
