Bah-B-QUE

Today we had a couple of friends over for a cookout (or as Alexander calls it a "bah-be-QUE"). In years passed we've had huge cookouts with both family & friends. This year, we kept it quite low-key. Most of our friends have kids so it was nice that the kids can entertain themselves & play all day!

Family Cookout...

We had a family cookout on Saturday and because Alexander didn't feel well, he was hardly himself but the party was still a success nonetheless.

Of course it was downpouring rain then oppressive humidity for the party and I'm thinking that when we have parties there's always something. At least we didn't have to use the big blue tarp. I'm also thankful it didn't rain during the actual party but man it was hot!

When Alexander did not want to cuddle, he did play with the girls by kicking around the ball. He also played a short game of ladder ball with cousin Brian. I wish Alexander felt better because there were so many little kids for him to play with who were his age. There's always next year!

Cookout...

As mentioned, we had a very small cookout on Saturday.
Normally, we have a huge cookout (50-60 people) but this year due to other things going on and everyone else having a crazy schedule, we decided to keep it very small. For the most part it included our parents, my sister and Dan's nephews.

Hopefully next year we'll be able to go back to our big shindig. But I will say my house was neat & clean a lot quicker than usual...

Alexander enjoyed himself despite the length of nap in the morning but you could tell he wouldn't be able to make the whole day, it may have been the cheese puffs keeping him amped up!
