Swim Class Update...

Alexander has done amazingly well with swim class. His progress is fantastic! He's now swimming by himself with the help of a swimmy, but I don't have to hold onto him. In fact, he likes it when I don't and he can swim to me.

He's been doing a great job of kicking & this week he even started to move his arms properly! Another thing he's gotten so much better with is blowing bubbles in the water rather than keeping his mouth open and taking in a lot of water!

Last week he figured out how to spin himself around in a circle and he looks like a little dolphin - it's quite cute!

Pretty soon, he'll be swimming all by himself!

Swim Class...

Today, we started our swim classes for the summer. Alexander was very excited leading up to the week & since we were going to NH for the weekend, I think he forgot. But once we got there, he was READY TO GO! He was also excited that Daddy was there with us to watch him swim.

Here he is all dressed & ready to swim! Then we did some practicing around the pool of kicking, moving our arms! The biggest obstacle will get him to learn to keep his mouth closed! When he gets excited that I'm about to let go, he starts to laugh and then takes in some water...
We had a few moments where I let go and let him swim/tread water a bit by himself and that made him quite giddy. And now that he's quite comfortable with the water, he jumped in a few times too.

Swimming Lessons: Year 2...

Today, Alexander & I went to sign up for swim class. He was quite excited to be back at the pool again, which is a far cry from his very first trip there last year. He kept asking if he could go for swimming class now so I had to explain that it was time for the older kids. So we sat and watched the older kids swim up & down the lanes for a while.

The other two classes I was hoping to get him into was already full, so we'll be attending the same "Mommy & Me" swim session as last year. This year he seems quite ready & excited! Maybe I'll even get him to swim for a few seconds on his own. We start in July so I'm sure the next few weeks will contain lots of questions as to when we go back to the pool.
