Week Glance (Monday, August 4th - Sunday, August 10th, 2008)
On Sunday, Grammie & Grampie came over to hang out with Alexander for a bit so Mommy could get some stuff done around the house. They went out to brunch and then after he took his 2 hour nap, they went outside to play.

We went to Uncle Steve's house to celebrate Will's 8th birthday. Alexander got to play with his 4 male cousins, the 5th one is a cute little girl who unfortunately was not there yesterday.

Wanted to post an update on the little sickeroo...last night showed all the signs of a potentially long evening. I'm happy to report that Alexander only had the one moment of crying/screaming before 8:30pm. The rest of the night, he slept right on through & in his crib!
He also slept until 6am! (wooo hooo)
He was in a good mood this morning, it wasn't until I tried to get him out the door and into the car that he wanted no part of it. He cried, kicked & screamed. I felt so bad for the poor guy. He spent half of the car ride to school upset and the other half trying to fall asleep.
Thankfully once at school, he was fine. He sat there and ate his pancakes and was quite happy. And then once Ginny walked in - I was old news! So it's good that he's on the mend...
Last night was a pretty rough night. Alexander appears to be teething full-throttle even though I can't feel anything even close to breaking through. It also doesn't help that the poor kid has a cold. He's congested, runny nose and just overall miserable.
School called me yesterday saying Alexander was miserable and just wouldn't stop crying. The little guy just wasn't himself, so I went to pick him up early. He was miserable the entire car ride home but seemed to be okay once we got home and into our routine. We had dinner, took a bath, and even read some books before bed. He was asleep by 7:05pm!
But then it reared it's ugly head again... He woke up screaming @ 8:30pm, then again at 10:30pm. The only thing that would calm him down and back to sleep was by sitting indian-style on the floor rocking him. You couldn't sit in the chair and even walking didn't work. He fell back asleep in his crib both times but eventually kept waking up. Then he was just waking every hour. At one point (don't even know the time), Dan brought him into bed with us but that didn't help because Alexander was miserable. He kept moving, crying, and not able to fall asleep which also meant neither did we.
Around 2:30am we tried to give him Motrin (he loves taking medicine) and he wanted no part of it - that's when I know he's miserable. He kept gagging because he was crying so hard...I was waiting to be thrown up on. Isn't it evitable as a Mom?? He slept some but I don't know just how much (I know I didn't sleep)...he went to school today and they said he was better than yesterday but still not 100%.
He was fine for Daddy at home (Mommy was stuck in traffic) and went down for bed without a hitch however as I started to type this he woke up screaming again so fingers crossed that we don't have the same night as last night!!
We attended our town's National Night Out for Safety again this year. Odd as it sounds, there seems to have been less for Alexander to do this year even though he's older. Plus, I didn't see McGruff the Crime Dog anywhere. Shame, really. This is us from the Night Out last year.
There was a female clown making balloon animals - man, they really are scary!!
Alexander did get to see a real police dog, named Hope, who he really enjoyed. He also got to check out a firetruck up close.
But probably his favorite part was eating a hot dog by himself, bun & all. He wasn't giving that up for no one.
