School Field Trip...

Annual School Field Trip - Apple Picking

Alexander's school had their annual field trip to go apple picking!  This was also the last time to go with TNN since next year Alexander & his friends will be in Kindergarten.  Mommy went as a chaperone again and we all had a great time.

Alexander & Finn were in Mommy's group and we had fun on the bus talking about Halloween and singing songs.  Once at the orchard, we rode a tractor over to apple trees.  And then the kids filled up their bags.  However, I think most of the kids ate more than they put in their bags.

After apple picking, we had cider & cider donuts for snack.  Then we fed the animals, took a group photo and headed back to school!  A great day!

Apple Picking...

Today, Alexander & Mommy went apple picking.  We went on the tractor hayride around the orchard which Alexander loved checking out the tractor driving in the mud.
Once in the orchard, he tried to climb as many ladders as possible.  I don't think he was doing so to pick apples but just climb.
He did get a bit daring later on and actually climbed on some branches

But after he saw a girl pick apples and throw them down to her Mom that was his next big item o' fun for the day.

After we filled our bag with yummy apples, we walked over to the farm house for some cider and lunch.  He checked out the animals and tractors.  He then decided he wanted to take a picture of our apples - so this picture brought to you by Alexander

Weekend Activities...

We had quite the busy weekend full of activities!Saturday - we had soccer in the morning which Coach Chip informed me that Alexander is one funny kid. Mimi & Papi came to watch soccer too which surprised Alexander. Then afterwards, the soccer clan (the boys & Veronica) headed over to truck day at the Middle school where the kids could get on trucks, go on a few bouncy houses & run around. It was a lot hotter than we expected but the kids had fun. After soccer, Alexander went with out to lunch with Mimi & Papi so Mommy could go visit Chris, Chris & new baby Bennett in the hospital.

Sunday - Daddy & Alexander had their weekend morning together at Dunkin Donuts & the gazebo before coming home and playing outside.

Mimi & Auntie came over to babysit Alexander so Mommy could go to the baby shower for Chris & baby Bennett as he arrived early. The three of them went apple picking! They picked apples, went for a hay ride & picked out a "cute, little pumpkin"!Then it was a low-key afternoon at home....whew, what a busy weekend!

Field Trip: Apple Picking...

Alexander had his first school field trip today - apple picking! He got to ride on a school bus & pick apples on a farm.

He was very excited for both apple picking & the school bus (especially when he saw the school bus). He was excited to be on the bus with Aidan & Aidan's Daddy (Aidan's Daddy & I were a couple of the chaperone's for the field trip) and the boys kept looking for each other in their seats.

At the farm, we walked by some horses which got all the kids excited. Then it was time to ride out to the apples on a tractor pulled hayride. Alexander wanted to stand on my lap and look at everything around rather than sit.

Once we got out to the trees, we got out and the kids immediately started picking apples...and then eating them. Aidan's Daddy & I cleaned a couple apples for Alexander & Aidan while we started picking because the boys really had no interest. They wanted to run in between the trees and hide under branches.

It was a gorgeous day & everyone had a blast! We filled up our bags & then it was time to go back on the tractor. We got back to the farm for a story & snack time. Then they let the kids go see the animals before it was time to get back on the bus for school.

Alexander liked the bunny & the goats but wanted no part of the horse. He thought the goat scratching his head on the fence was great.

It was time to head back to school just in time for lunch/naptime and that couldn't have come soon enough as Alexander & his friends were starting to hit that wall. I know Alexander was starting to crash fast. We got back to their class and Aidan & Alexander were close to meltdowns...so Aidan's Daddy & I left quickly so Miss Lori & Miss Alexa could take control of the room and get everyone settled.

Overall, everyone had a wonderful time! Perfect first time field trip!

New England Fall Fun...

Today Alexander & I went Davis Farm again. This time we went to the Mega Maze & Apple Picking...some good ole fashion New England Fall good times! We went with Grammie, Grampie, Gary, Sharon & the kids. The kids were great with Alexander, Claire especially wanting to hold his hand and make sure he was okay. The weather was great, if not a bit warm because we weren't dressed for it to be *that* nice out.

We started with the Maze to try to beat the crowds. I had Alexander in the stroller and that made the Maze a bit challenging with the bridges, so finally I took him out and we took turns holding him or dragging the stroller. Grammie, Grampie, Alexander & I only made it half way. It was getting too hot and close to lunch so we left through the "emergency exit". We went to have some lunch and wait for Gary, Sharon & the kids before we went over for apple picking.

They were doing Helicopter Rides and it was pretty cool to be THAT close to them - Alexander loved watching them take off, fly over & land! They finished up and the kids played a bit with Alexander and we took silly pictures of our "victory". Then we headed over to the orchards (right across the parking lot from the Petting Zoo/Splash Zone).

It was a bit hard for Alexander to walk due to the long grass and all of the apples on the ground but he had fun with Claire. He was picking apples and putting them in the bag. Then as I was picking one from the tree, he picked one from a branch and ate it on his own. It was VERY cute. I took a bite of it so he could eat the good stuff...he wasn't all that keen on biting it but he loved the taste and to suck on it. He also wanted to lick it...so I would take a new bite and then he would lick that section.

Overall a very nice day!

And probably my favorite picture of the entire day:
