Snowtober...

Yes, it's only October 30th and we have already gotten our first snow fall and first snow storm!  We got a fluke snow storm yesterday and it was quite a doozy...because the fact that a lot of trees still have leaves it really impacted fallen trees/branches.

We lost power at our house around 6:15pm Saturday night shortly after Daddy & Alexander got home from uncle Matt's.  Because it didn't look like it was coming back on any time soon, they headed to Steve & Carolyn's for the evening.  That way Alexander would be able to play with the boys while remaining warm.

The next day, we had our very own snowman (about the height of Mommy).  Daddy & Alexander did a great job putting him together.  Who would have thought we'd have a big snowman in October?  And thankfully the power came back on Sunday morning so we were lucky.

Storm Part II...

Due to the extreme heat we had yesterday & today, we had another crazy thunder/lightning storm pass through.

It was so bad that Alexander refused to have our normal date night by going to either Target or Stop & Shop because he refused to get out of the car. He just wanted to get home. Once home, the weather continued to be bad and while we were brushing our teeth a bright bolt of lightning passed in the sky, quickly followed by loud booming thunder. Needless to say, both he & I jumped half way across the room and when I looked over at him, the color had drained from his face.

Now every time it rains or there are clouds in the sky he asks me if there is going to be thunder and lightning...poor kid!

Hunker Down...

Last night a really bad storm passed through our area - so bad that we actually had tornadoes touch down and do some severe damage. In our area, we get rain, snow (blizzards & nor'easter) but we don't get the crazy severe weather like tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. So when something like that happens it's pretty much havoc around here.

We had a tornado warning for our area until about 8pm and then a watch until later in the evening. Thankfully we were spared a tornado but we did get massive rain along with a severe thunder/lightning storm.

Daddy picked up Alexander from school and managed to get home before the storm hit...however it hit soon after. We had Alexander preoccupied for most of the time before bedtime so he didn't really realize the lightning and the thunder wasn't that bad....however it came about 30 minutes after he fell asleep. It was so bad that lightning/thunder hit our area at the same time with a loud crack and then *bam* the power went out. And that pretty much did Alexander in ....he woke with a start and then was freaked out because there was no power.

Daddy got flashlights and candles going while Mommy stayed with Alexander trying to get him calm and to fall back asleep however the lightning was so bright followed by some powerful thunder that it wasn't happening. Then the 2nd wave of storms came through at about 9pm and for almost a straight hour we had thunder & lightning nonstop. Finally, I brought Alexander into our room and the two of us cuddled up trying to wait it out...at about 10pm Alexander fell asleep cuddled up under my arm and I dozed off minutes after he did.

Needless to say - Alexander is not a fan.

It's Too Loud in Here...

Tonight, we had some crazy thunderstorms with some bright lightening...Lightening was so bright that even with shades down and lights on, you could clearly see the lightening. Thunder was so loud that Alexander was kind of nervous... so much so, he fell asleep with his blanket around his face so it could block his ears.At least he knew enough not to put the blanket ON his face...
