Weekly Glance...

Weekly Glance (Monday, September 12th - Sunday, September 18th, 2011)

  • Had a up & down week at school
  • He was scheduled for Mystery Box on Monday - he decided to put Monkey in the box.  He said that Maureen figured it out pretty quickly
  • Monday he was showing off (yelling, talking over friends)
  • Tuesday he had a great day
  • Tuesday night he went fishing with Daddy
  • Wednesday, Mommy & Alexander went to his first Red Sox game at Fenway Park
  • Had two timeouts on Thursday for throwing a shovel in the playground and for pushing one of his friends
  • Finished his homework sheets Thursday night
  • Friday was a good day at school, since Daddy was going to cousin Nick's football game, we went out to dinner and game home and played some games
  • Alexander won 'Trouble" twice!
  • Saturday was a busy day - soccer, lunch/errands with Mommy, William's birthday party in the afternoon, riding bikes with Daddy in early evening
  • Sunday, Alexander & Daddy went to uncle Matt's for lunch, then to the zoo with Michael and back to Matt's to play & watch the Patriots game
  • Working on changing bedtime a little to be more structured - after getting ready for bed, it will be a couple of books, then small amount of quiet time where he can read, do puzzles, or play for a bit but he has to do it by himself.  Then when quiet time is over, cuddle/tuck in and that's it.  Hopefully it will help condense the process to 30 minutes.
  • Sleeping was mixed - he fell asleep reasonably well most nights but did not stay in his bed one night
  • Started weaning him slowly of the habit of him coming in each night to cuddle/sleep
  • By the time, Sunday morning came I brought him back into his room, cuddled with him in the chair, tucked him back in his bed and let him cry it out

Weekend Activities...

Weekend Activities...

Saturday
Saturday morning, Alexander & Mommy hung out, then got ready for soccer.  Daddy, Mommy & Alexander headed to soccer for the "semi-private" class as only one other boy showed up besides Alexander this week.  The boys had fun and both have athletic ability.  We just have to work on getting Alexander to listen a bit and not being so silly and start to focus on what he's learning.

After soccer, Mommy & Alexander went out to lunch and then ran some errands.  One of our important errands was to pick out a birthday present for William.  William is a school friend and was having a party that afternoon.   Before the party, we went to the playground for a bit and then went to the party.

He had fun at the party - he got to play with William, Grace, Veronica & DJ.  He also got to see Jacob & Julia as we haven't seen them in a few months.  William also has a little doggie so we got more practice in with getting comfortable with dogs.  He started out really anxious but wasn't as bad when we were leaving.

Once we got home, Daddy & Alexander went over to the new football field across the street to ride his bike a bit.  Then it was home for dinner & bedtime as he was exhausted!

Sunday
After waking up at 5am and Mommy working with him to stay in his room until 'morning time', he finally decided to get up for the day around 5:45am and then decided to play with his cars in his room for a bit.

Sunday morning was a low-key morning with Daddy.  Then the gents got ready to hang out with uncle Matt & Michael for the afternoon.  The plan was to go to uncle Matt's for lunch, go to the zoo for a few hours and then head back to uncle Matt's to watch the Patriots game.

First Red Sox Game...

Today, Alexander went to his first Red Sox game!  He has been to Fenway for his first trip not that long ago but today was for his first Red Sox game - he was very excited!  He wanted to see Wally, Pedroia & Youkilis.

I was hoping to get there early enough for batting practice but parking proved to be a lot busier than I anticipated.  Who would have thought for a day game in the middle of the week?!

Kevin Youkilis' charity was collecting books for kids & need.   We dropped our books off and Alexander was so excited to put them in the box...I don't know if because all of the women were ooohing over how cute he was and how thankful they were or that he got a Youk bracelet.  But it was very sweet.

We got to our seats and he just wanted to sit there and take it all in.  He kept asking what things were and who the different people on the field were.  Here is Alexander right near Pesky Pole!

He was so excited when Wally was on the field!

Mommy & Alexander in our seats
Alexander was so excited during the game - asking what was going on, who was hitting, and cheering when the Sox made a play or scored.  He also was so intrigued that every time there was a play in the field Pedroia would JUMP high in the air - even if the ball was never hit.

I kept telling him that we could leave when he wanted and he said we stayed til the end.  That's my boy!

When the game was over (Red Sox lost 5-4), Alexander asked if he could walk around Fenway Park so that's just what we did.  We walked all around - we went into the Souvenir store on Yawkey Way, watched some players (Adrian Gonzalez) get in their cars & leave, and then checked out the Ted Williams statue.

4 Fenway Franks, bag of peanuts, two drinks,  a bat, & a small Wally later - it was an amazing day!

Homework...

Yup, it's official - Alexander has homework in Pre-K!  For his first assignment, he has to work on his letters.  He got four different sheets (letters) to practice by September 19th.  He did two sheets on Tuesday.

He then is scheduled to be the "Mystery Box" person for Monday (12th).  He has to pick an item to put in a box, give three clues and have his friends guess what's in the box.  We had him write out his clues...one of his clues just happened to be:

Couldn't resist making a copy of it to show off his ability to write!

Soccer Star....

Alexander started soccer today for the 2nd season!  He loves it.  I'm hoping he enjoys himself but also does well.  Last year he was in class with three other friends and there was lots of not listening/extra running when they should have been listening to their coaches.

This year, he's improving with his listening skills and he doesn't have anyone he knows in this class.  In fact, there are only two other boys in the class.  Maybe this means they'll get a bit more one on one.

And besides a little bit of not following direction as to when to take his turn, he did well on his first class.  Plus, he also might think he's the next Karate Kid!

Big Kick...

Big Kick for Alexander as he finishes up his first soccer class of the season...
