Weekly Glance (Monday, May 11th - Sunday, May 17th, 2009)

  • Very lowkey yet good week (despite one long temper tantrum Monday night)
  • Music teacher, Mrs Brie, came to school and they sang Wheels on the Bus
  • Loves hopping - hopping around the house, hopping into his pajamas, hopping towards the car
  • Helped Daddy mow the lawn and LOVES it. He pushes around his own little mower
  • Weekly visit to Target for hotdogs except his Target Cafe lady wasn't there, so after uneventful hotdogs, we went to Payless for new sneakers/sandals
  • Helped Mommy trim the leaves and then proceeded to throw them everywhere
  • Went for a walk Saturday morning with Daddy to Dunkin' Donuts, the center of town and the playground
  • On Saturday, went to visit Kirk, Deanna and baby Marina - Alexander did very well with the little one
  • Had a very lowkey day at home on Sunday (it was rainy & cold)
  • Found Mommy's elastic and wants to put it in his hair so we call it his 'antenna' (as you can see in the pictures)
  • Loves finger painting
  • Went to the playground Sunday afternoon before dinner with Daddy for a break from the house

Visit with Friends...

Today, we went to go visit some good friends of ours, Kirk & Deanna. They just had a little baby girl, Marina, in February. We were finally able to schedule some time to go over, spend some quality time & visit without conflicting schedules, people being sick, etc. We had a great afternoon.
Marina is adorable and such a well behaved little girl. She didn't cry once the entire time we were there and as long as you babbled with her, she was in heaven! Alexander was also very well behaved with Marina. He was interested and even wanted to check her out when she was in her swing. I think the part that intrigued me the most was that Alexander was not at all jealous when I was holding her and kept pointing to her saying "baby".

Alexander was very gentle with Marina, using nice hands. He even wanted to give her a kiss and waited for us to be right there.

Reading...

At bedtime, Alexander & I have our rituals as to what books we read and how we read them. Most times, I read them and if I look at him as I read him, he says "Nooooo Mommy" and literally turns my head towards the book. I guess I can't have them memorized. For Easter, he got a Elmo @ the Playground book that he loves. We've been reading it and the best part is that there are words featured in the book at the end of the book so we practice saying them.

At first I got babble back but he's been getting better at repeating after me. Then Wednesday night, I would point to the word and he would say it first - without me coaching him. I was SO excited that after the first few words I was so giddy. Poor kid didn't know what was going on. He was able to say most words by "reading" (it could be his own memorizing, but still he understands the words!).

Then as we were reading the book Friday night, he started to say the words that are in the back DURING the book and in the correct places. This was more exciting because we didn't practice that part but he knew what word to say when!

A few words that are on the list are: practice, baseball, playground, kindness & fantastic! These are so much fun to hear him say...or at least attempt to say!

Mother's Day...

Mother's Day 2009 - We had a low key Mother's Day where Mimi, Papi & Auntie came over for a mini BBQ. Alexander was in a great mood all day (except right before naptime) and had a blast playing outside with Mimi, drums with Auntie, and watching Elmo with Papi. During dinner, he ate his own cheeseburger that he dipped in ketchup, a hot dog, some chips & even a bit of strawberry shortcake for dessert.

It's always cute when a little boy wants to be just like his Daddy...

Gold Star...

On Thursday, Ms Sarah told Mommy that Alexander got a gold star sticker today for helping clean up the toys even though he had already cleaned up his pile.

Way to go, Alexander!
