First Day of Kindergarten...

The day has finally arrived - Alexander's first day of kindergarten!

He was so excited this morning - getting ready, posing for pictures, giving hugs! He was so grown up and wanted to make sure he did his own hair. He also couldn't wait to show off his new backpack!

His teacher, Mrs. Risi, asked him what name he wants to go by to which he replied, without any prompting or assistance, "Alexander". He made me one happy Mom. He was so cool and collected lining up and walking into class. I was so proud watching him walk in.
My little guy is all grown up...and I was good I held my tears in until after he walked in.

School Week....

Earlier I mentioned that Alexander was having one of his best weeks at school.  I'm happy to report his week ended just as well as it began.  He had one of his best days on Friday.  He was so good that Ms. Sarah actually wondered if he was not feeling well because he was quiet and low-key.  And he was feeling just fine - WOOO!  We love great weeks like this!

Hopefully it continues, although we'll see since Aidan & Connor are now in Pre-K full time as well.

What a difference...

What a difference a week makes...

So last week, Alexander didn't have the best of weeks at school.  He was fresh, loud & didn't seem to listen to his teachers.  Well....I'm happy to report that so far Alexander has had one of his best weeks ever at school.  He's been incredibly helpful and used good manners.  There has been a few reminders of using indoor voice but overall  he's done so good!

Bad day...

Today, Alexander had one of the worst days at school in a very long time. He had four timeouts before 11am which meant that his teacher called me at work. I explained that Alexander had a VERY busy weekend, with late nights due to the rehearsal/wedding and the fair and that the weekend was catching up to him. He was loud, had some attitude, and overall just not listening. He even fibbed when he hit a friend.

Thankfully his behavior improved as the day went on but he still had a day for the record books for him.

(Happy to report that Alexander's behavior and mood improved with each day during the week and by Friday he had a really good day.)

Rough Week...

This past week, Alexander had a pretty rough week at school. There was a lot of talking back, being fresh, not listening and even picking on one of his friends.

Throughout the week, the lack of listening was at an all time high. There were many times we would have to ask him to do something which then turned into telling him due to the lack of listening which only then escalated to a timeout or unhappy Mommy.

Supposedly, Alexander and a few other kids have been picking on another kid at school. They play with him but then they will antagonize him. It makes me very sad to hear (& see) my kid being a bully. He told me he kicked the poor kid and just wasn't very nice.

We've explained the importance of not picking on his friends or other kids at school as he would not like it if kids picked on him. We've also explained that if we hear he continues this behavior then he will get a punishment more than just no tv for an evening.

He needs to realize how serious this is and that he really needs to improve his listening.

Halloween Parade....

The annual Halloween Parade at school...was a huge success! All the kids were dressed up in cute costumes & there was a huge turnout by the parents. There had to have been at least 40-50 parents there to enjoy the parade!Alexander's class had a Superman, two Spidermans, three Firemen, Thing 1 & Thing 2 & lots of princesses! My handsome Superman - his expression is priceless!

Rough Day...

Alexander had a pretty rough day at school today. He didn't listen to his teachers, he & Aidan argued with/instigated each other, he had little screaming meltdowns. And when it was time to paint, Alexander didn't want to listen to Miss Sarah and he decided not to put on a smock but paint on his shirt instead. Yup, he came home with his shirt covered in blue paint. At the end of the day Alexander & a friend (turns out it was Aidan) were arguing and the friend bit Alexander.

When Daddy went to go pick him up, Miss Sarah told Daddy about the rough day and that Alexander didn't really want to listen. She also asked how potty training was going at home...I think all this information might have been a bit too much for Daddy because later that night Daddy was convinced that Alexander was going to get kicked out of school.

Rest assured that all 3 year old's have bad days...

Aquarium Guy...

Today, the Aquarium guy came to Alexander's school with all sorts of sea creatures.

He brought all sorts of fishes, snails & starfish. Alexander liked checking out the snails but he was more excited that he got to hold a starfish all by himself!

Alexander loves sea creatures!

Hands...

Before the week got as crazy as it was about to I thought it would be a cute idea to take a picture of Alexander's hands from school. There's a wall that they have all of the kids put their hands on and they right their names underneath it.

It's very cute and the kids love seeing their hands up on the wall. Alexander loves to point out his hands as well as his friend Connor's who is right next to him.
I then just took a close-up shot of Alexander's hands on the wall.

Then I wanted to get a shot of the wall as you walk down so you can see all of the hands...they also have pics & bios of the teachers lined on the wall (which has been helpful to Daddy who can't remember the teachers names) I've always liked this and thought it was really cute so I wanted to capture Alexander's hands before they do something else on the walls.

Gold Star...

On Thursday, Ms Sarah told Mommy that Alexander got a gold star sticker today for helping clean up the toys even though he had already cleaned up his pile.

Way to go, Alexander!

Really????

Today, I picked Alexander up from school and I noticed the pile of snow pants & boots. Then I looked over and saw the hats, & mittens hanging up to dry. I was trying to figure why they were all there, afterall it was FREEZING today no way would they go outside.

Well, I was wrong.

They went outside.

Seriously? Really? They think that's a good idea - bringing kids out in 12 degree temperatures. HELLO - it was below freezing! It was so cold just going from the car into work, I can't imagine actually bringing kids outside in this. And items of clothing were wet which leads me to believe that it wasn't a quick "here's some fresh, freezing air" but they walked around their 'block'.

REALLY??

Troubbbbllle...

Alexander got in trouble at school for the first time. (Okay not really because he's only 18 months and they don't get in trouble...) But it's comical to start off the story with Alexander got a written warning.

However, I went to pick him up today and they were outside playing. There were 2 new teachers who was with his class so I had to introduce myself because Alexander was trying to rush pass them to get to me. As I went to pick him, Ms. Kim explained to me that there was an incident report I would have to sign. Oh??

Earlier in the day, Alexander was playing with a toy when another child came over and took it from him. Alexander, not one to understand sharing just yet, swipped the kid across the face. And of course because his nails grow like weeds, he scratched and left a mark. So they had to fill out a report for both parents. I was looking at the book and noticed the same report with Aidan's name on it. They don't put the other kid involved on your report and they won't tell you unless it's significant.

So hopefully Alexander learns to share quickly or kids don't steal his toys...
...joys of a toddler!
