What a difference...

What a difference a week makes...

So last week, Alexander didn't have the best of weeks at school.  He was fresh, loud & didn't seem to listen to his teachers.  Well....I'm happy to report that so far Alexander has had one of his best weeks ever at school.  He's been incredibly helpful and used good manners.  There has been a few reminders of using indoor voice but overall  he's done so good!

Weekly Glance...

Weekly Glance (Monday, August 22nd - Sunday, August 28th, 2011)

  • Had mediocre week at school - started out with the worst day in a very long while but much improved by the end of the week
  • Sleeping was hit/miss - some nights he slept all night in his room, other nights he came in to cuddle (one night he even came in while sleep walking).
  • He also had a couple of accidents this week (he was doing so well too....)
  • Practiced more bike riding after school with Daddy
  • Went to Stop & Shop with Mommy and was a really good helper
  • Went to dinner with Mommy with Mimi & Papi for Mimi's birthday
  • Saturday morning, Alexander & Mommy had a low-key day and then ran errands in preparation of the storm
  • That afternoon, we were cuddling on the couch (Daddy napped upstairs) and Daddy took Alexander out to mini-golf to get out of the house and then they went over to Matt's to play with Michael
  • He did sleep til 6:30 both Saturday and Sunday
  • Sunday morning, Alexander & Daddy hung out (played some wii) while the storm whipped around
  • We hung out at home, played some games, braced for power outages (thankfully there was none)
  • Daddy & Alexander went over Uncle Matt's to hang out with Michael but also help with water in the basement
  • A much better end to the week and we even got thru Irene unscathed!

Baker Extraordinaire...

One way we managed to break up the day and ignore Irene was by baking cookies! Alexander was the little baker and he did an amazing job!

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene made her way up the Eastern Coast this weekend. By the time she got to us she was pretty much a tropical storm. We did have heavy rain & strong winds for most of the day, although the rain stopped by early afternoon.

Alexander was worried there would be loud thunder & lightening and beside a few quiet rumbles yesterday, there was none to speak of. We were also of the very fortunate bunch that we only lost power for a split second earlier in the day. Other than that we had power all day. Lucky, I know!

Birthday Celebrations...

Tonight, Alexander & I went out to dinner with Mimi & Papi to have a birthday celebration for Mimi. Alexander kept asking if there would be fireworks as last year at Mimi's birthday (at their house), a neighbor set off some fireworks. He now equates Mimi's birthday to fireworks.
We got to watch the Sox game, give Mimi her presents and it was a nice night.

Bad day...

Today, Alexander had one of the worst days at school in a very long time. He had four timeouts before 11am which meant that his teacher called me at work. I explained that Alexander had a VERY busy weekend, with late nights due to the rehearsal/wedding and the fair and that the weekend was catching up to him. He was loud, had some attitude, and overall just not listening. He even fibbed when he hit a friend.

Thankfully his behavior improved as the day went on but he still had a day for the record books for him.

(Happy to report that Alexander's behavior and mood improved with each day during the week and by Friday he had a really good day.)

Weekly Glance (Monday, August 15th - Sunday, August 21st, 2011)

  • Had a really good week at school - one teacher was on vacation and he's had the same teacher in his room filling in for the past two weeks. He does really well with this teacher -- too bad she rotates rooms.
  • Sleeping was also pretty normal this week - no major issues at bedtime
  • Went with Mommy to get his haircut on Thursday for the wedding and then we went grocery shopping
  • Had a very busy weekend starting on Friday
  • Mommy & Alexander had the rehearsal/dinner Friday night which he had fun hanging out with Kaileen & Erin
  • Saturday morning, he had his last swim class of the summer which he continued to do really well
  • Saturday early-afternoon, we hung out at home where he practiced riding his bike. He did a really good job too!
  • We then headed to Southie for Kelly & Tim's wedding where Alexander was the ring bearer - he looked so cute!
  • Alexander was well behaved and stayed up til the end of the reception party - he had a blast dancing, hanging out with the other kids!
  • Sunday, Mommy & Alexander headed over to Mimi & Papi's in order to go to the Marshfield Fair for our annual trip
  • It was a very long, busy but fun weekend

Marshfield Fair...

Alexander & Mommy joined Mimi, Papi, Gary, Sharon, Chris & Claire for our annual trip to the Marshfield Fair!He went on some rides, had some ice cream and we even had a bunch of us play one of the little games to win a prize. Alas, it did not happen. He had a ball going around the fair with Chris & Claire. At one point he told me that he felt bigger because he could ride a roller coaster all by himself. Sniff, he's growing up on me!After the fair, we headed back to Gary & Sharon's for dinner where Alexander was a bit timid with the dogs despite being comfortable with them back at Christmas.

Quote of the Day...

While driving to Mimi & Papi's, Alexander had a doozy of a quote! We were getting closer to their house and this was our conversation:

Alexander: Are we almost at Mimi & Papi's?
Mommy: Yes, in about 5 minutes
Alexander: Ohhh, I can tell
Mommy: How?
Alexander: Because I can smell Papi
Mommy: What?
Alexander: Because I smell Papi's mustache
Mommy: Oh brother, you are hysterical

Handsome...

Alexander was the ring bearer in cousin Kelly's wedding - and he was completely handsome and adorable. He got a cool ring bearer jersey Friday night and couldn't wait to wear it!
He had such a great weekend, and partied at both the rehearsal and the reception. People kept commenting at how handsome he was and how well behaved he was, especially being up so late on Saturday.
He loved dancing and danced all night!

Speed Racer...

Take a peak at the Speed Racer! This is the same kid who at the beginning of the summer who refused/was afraid to pedal a bike. Not anymore!

Future ballplayer...

Is it possible?? Could Alexander really be ambidextrous when it comes to playing baseball? I know Daddy was quite excited at the possibility....
