Collecting More...

Incident Reports.

This week there were TWO!

When I went to pick up Alexander from school on Tuesday, Alexa informed me that there would be another incident report I had to sign. Thankfully it only involved Alexander & thankfully it wasn't major. He was running around class, fell down and bumped his head on the plastic picnic table they use for lunches/snack. He got a decent size bump on his head.

Then on Wednesday, Alexander was running in class again and ran into the shelf of toys with his ribcage so he had a red mark on his ribs.

Sense a pattern of running & incident reports???

Enchanted Village...

This year, I started a new tradition with Alexander. I took him to see the Enchanted Village with a friend of mine, Kelley and her daughter Elizabeth. We've had a lunch date with Elizabeth before so he was excited to see her again.

The Enchanted Village used to be set up in the old department store Jordan Marsh (before it was bought by Macy's). It stopped being displayed a few years ago until Jordan's Furniture bought it from the City of Boston. They refurbished it and set up the display and I have to say I was very impressed. It wasn't too long but I think any longer and the kids would have really lost interest. The best part for them was the fake snow that fell from the ceiling every so often. They seemed more excited about that than anything. After the village, the kids sat in Santa's chair for a few pictures and surprisingly sat still. This is my favorite.
From there, we went to the Holiday Lite show. I didn't know how Alexander would do in a movie-theater setting with laser lights & loud music but he *LOVED* it. He sang along to "Rudolph" and loved seeing "Frosty". He wanted to sit through it again - overall a very nice time with friends to finish the holiday season.

Edaville Railroad...

After Spaulding Family Christmas, we went over Mimi & Papi's for a sleep-over. We were going to Edaville Railroad on Sunday to see the Christmas lights as we ride the train. We headed to Edaville Railroad after naptime and thankfully the weather cooperated because it wasn't freezing or snowing.
We got there at a perfect time. There wasn't a lot of people so it made it easy to get on the ride (Merry Go Round specifically) without lines or waiting. After a few rides, we got in line to go on the Edaville Train to see the lights. We called this the Christmas Train because Alexander kept saying he wanted to see Thomas & Sir Topham Hatt again. We got our seats on the train and had plenty of room to ourselves. Alexander must have said "All Aboard" about 100 times, easily. The conductor came around and punched our tickets which I think Alexander thought was the best part of the whole train. He even showed the conductor how he says "All Aboard". The lights didn't seem to hold his interest this year, I think he was more excited he was riding on a train.
After the train ride, we decided to go out to dinner. Alexander (even though getting close to bedtime) was extremely well-behaved. He ate spaghetti, meatballs & french fries...but had more fun slurping up the spaghetti!Another fun year at Edaville!

Christmas Edition: 2009

This year, Christmas season was a busy one for our family!

Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, Alexander went to school for 3/4 of the day (we kept him so he could get a nap in as it was going to be a long night). After school, we went to St. Marks for Christmas Eve Mass where Alexander was very well behaved. I brought a couple of books to distract him but in all honesty I didn't really need them because he did very well. After mass, we went to look at the Nativity set in front of church which Alexander found to be very cool - I think he was impressed by the size of the lambs.

After mass, we went to our annual stop at the restaurant to meet with Mimi & Papi as we killed some time before it was time to go to Dennis & Mary's for their Christmas Eve gathering. At least this time there were two other little girls there so he wasn't the only person under the age of 21. Actually this year, the restaurant had more people in there than in years passed, we were a bit surprised. We sat in the corner so Alexander was free to run around without bothering anyone. Then it was time to head over to Dennis' house.

At Dennis', Alexander hung out with the kids playing cars. It was a low-key night but nice to be with family. We left Dennis' around 10:15pm - a lot later than expected and shocked that Alexander was still up and in a decent mood. But he did fall alseep in the car ride home.

Christmas Day
After opening presents from Santa, Mimi & Papi, and Auntie came over to celebrate Christmas. We opened more presents which Alexander was a bit more excited about opening gifts and started to get into it. Auntie and Mimi & Papi gave Alexander a train table as well as some Thomas & Friends pieces that go with the train table...Alexander was quite excited because the station talks. After nap & dinner, Alexander played with his presents before it was time for Mimi & Papi had to head home.

Day-after Christmas
Grandma & Pop-pop came over in the morning to spend some time with Alexander for Christmas since they were up visiting Matt & Laura for Christmas Day. Alexander got excited to show Grandma his train table and his vacuum. Alexander opened his presents from Grandma & Pop-pop and he got some very cool, big trucks! One of the dump trucks had such a big dumper that we could probably put Alexander in the back! He also got a book & some art supplies - some very nice Christmas presents!

After our visit with Grandma & Pop-pop, we headed to uncle Billy's for the Spaulding Family Christmas. Unfortunately, Alexander fell asleep in the car 15 mins before we got to Billy's so his nap was *very* short. However, once he got inside and started playing with all the kids, and then the excitement of presents & dinner, he was pretty good for most of the day. There was only one small little meltdown but we were able to difuse it pretty quickly. Alexander got some cute presents but the one that kept his attention most was a little train set that he & Chris played together for a good chunk of time.

Spending time with family, playing with the kids, opening fun presents helped make for a fun & exciting Christmas!

Santa's Visit...

Christmas morning was quite enjoyable.

Alexander woke up at 5:30am but then came in with Mommy and cuddled for a bit. This was probably the Christmas present for Mommy & Daddy because we got to sleep until 7:20am! When we asked him if he wanted to go downstairs to see if Santa came, his reaction was priceles - "nah, I want to stay upstairs and cuddle in bed".

Once we convinced him to go downstairs, he was very excited. He came down and saw his pile of loot from Santa. The best part was that one of his toys was motion activated so it started talking but Alexander couldn't figure out which one it was. He kept looking around but had no idea how to find the talking present. Finally he found it so he opened his talking Thomas the Train...but then it was hard to get him to open other presents.

This year was the year of Thomas the Train, Trucks & cleaning supplies. I can't tell which gift he likes more: his Thomas the trains, several different trucks or his vacuum/broom!

Overall it was a very successful Christmas morning...Santa Claus did a very good job this year! And what will make next year is the fact that Alexander will understand the whole concept of Santa bringing presents on Christmas - this year it wasn't fully understood. Next year should be even better!

Incident Report...yet again

Alexander came home with yet a time another incident report. This time it was in preschool while they were visiting for the morning. Alexander had a book that another friend wanted so instead of using their words, teeth were used.

Alexander got bit on his arm because he would not share the book. We found out later that afternoon that it was Sean who bit Alexander...but at least it was not Alexander this around.

Montly Report...

As for the Monthly Report...nothing really has changed in regards to sleeping, eating, etc.

The thing that has changed has been his vocabulary as well as his manners. He's improved so much with his vocabulary in the sense of speaking as well as reading. We have a couple books that he will actually read rather than have me read to him. It is quite cute as well as entertaining watching him read a book, and then getting excited when he sees how proud I am.

The next big phase is that he'll be moving into Preschool room in January. He's quickly becoming a big boy. And the best part is that he's actually starting to understand the concept of being a big boy!
