Rain, Rain, Go Away...

It's been raining here for, what feels like, the entire month of June. Thankfully, Alexander has his own raincoat to protect against the elements.

And he looks pretty darn cute in it too!

  • Very lowkey week at home/school - must be the weather!
  • Played outside at school, when it wasn't raining (is it actually summer?)
  • Showed Mommy & Daddy how he puts on his coat by himself - he was very proud to show us

  • Teething starting again as he had his hands in his mouth for the end of the week
  • Signed Alexander up for swimming "classes" to try it out

  • Went to Target with Mommy on Thursday for our weekly hotdog & milk visit
  • Played outside with Daddy after school on Friday - swept the driveway
  • Got a package in the mail from Mimi & Papi
  • On Saturday, walked to the grocery store with Mommy to get out of the house and pick up some bananas - Alexander loves using the self-scanner!
  • He was quite fussy Saturday morning and took a very short nap but was in a great mood in the afternoon
  • Went to a family party Saturday afternoon to celebrate my cousin Brian's upcoming wedding
  • Loved running around, especially in the rain; played ball & ping pong
  • Ate very well and was very well behaved
  • Sunday morning, Alexander & Daddy had their weekly walk to Dunkin Donuts, the gazebo & the playground
  • Alexander can now point out a Dunkin Donuts even before we realize we're driving by one and he'll say "Daddy, dindin donnus"

  • Finger painting and then tubbies before bed

Wally the Monster...

Alexander got a package in the mail this week - it was a surprise from Mimi & Papi. It's a hat with Wally the Green Monster on it. He loved the hat, and kept wanting to wear it but it's still a wee too big. Soon enough he'll be wearing this everywhere.

Just Keep Swimming...

This week, I signed Alexander up for swim classes. Well I tried to sign him up for swim classes but they were full! So he's on the waitlist, must have large interest because I signed up on the 2nd day available to non-members and it was already full.

Rather than waiting to see if a spot opens up, I signed him up for the Mommy & Me sessions. It's 30 minutes of 'self-learning' each week. We'll be able to use this as an introduction to the water & pools to see if he really likes it. This is a non-formal session where we can just play around, swim and get used to the water!

I've mentioned it a few times asking him if he wants to go in the big pool and swim with the big kids and he gets this "intriqued" look on his face. The first session is next week so let's hope it goes well and he doesn't freak out!

"I Did It"...

Here are a couple new videos we took last night. This is Alexander showing off his latest new trick he learned at school.

Monthly Update...

Here we are at yet another month... and there is really nothing new to report.

I think the only major happening was that two more teeth broke (bottom front) through the skin which cause for sleepless nights, a fever or two, and a few irritable people.

School is going very well - Ms Sarah said he's still the best dressed kid at school. Aidan, Connor & Grace are his friends but he definitely has something going with William because he talks about him often at home (VlmVlm is how he says William).

Vocab is improving to where the phrases from last month are really starting to be mini-sentences.

He's able to climb up on the chair & couch without much fuss and thankfully hasn't really tried to climb out of his crib.

He did get his cast off and that went so smoothly. Almost too smooth! He still talks about it saying that his 'cast off doo doo" which means "My cast was taken off by a vacuum".

He certainly has his favorites that we seem to be on the lookout for all the time: backhoe, engine, bebies (which are the horses down the street), bus, truck

He loves finger painting, seems to be the latest thing. But it's very quick - blink & you miss it!

  • Sunday morning, Mommy & Alexander hung out (read books, finger painting, grocery store) so Daddy could get a good fishing trip in for Father's Day
  • After a great nap, Mimi, Papi & Auntie was here for Alexander to play with so we could celebrate Father's Day
  • Sunday afternoon consisted of trucks, running around, baseball/golf, & finger painting

Father's Day...

Today is Father's Day!

Originally, we planned to go to the zoo like we did last year to see the animals & have a picnic. However, Mother Nature had other plans for us. Because it's been rainy & chilly for what seems like an eternity, we had a mini cookout at home.

Because it was Daddy day, Daddy went fishing in the morning while Mommy & Alexander played, read books, painted, and went grocery shopping.
Mimi, Papi & Auntie were coming over but we didn't tell Alexander so that he would actually nap this time. So when he woke up from nap, he had a nice surprise!

Rest of the day was lowkey because of the rain - played inside with trucks, golf, and more painting!

We ate lunch, gave Daddy & Papi their presents, and had some ice cream cake. Overall, a nice yet lowkey day.
Happy Father's Day!

Bonding Time...

This was a big week for Daddy & Alexander! Not only were they home together on Tuesday (Alexander's sick day), but Mommy had plans to go see the Five Bad Boys from the Beantown Land on both Thursday & Friday.

This meant that Daddy & Alexander got to do dinner, bathtime, and bedtime together for two nights in a row!

Earlier in the week I was apprehensive only in the sense that Alexander's teeth has been bothering him and he's been waking up wanting to cuddle with Mommy. So I was hoping that since I wasn't here and if he did wake up, Alexander would let Daddy calm him down.

Thankfully, the boys did just swimmingly and Alexander slept fine! And Mommy had fun seeing the original boys...

Progress Report...

Alexander received his Progress Report from Toddler Room today.

He got mostly A's! And as the proud Mommy, I'm not surprised at all because my boy is "wicked smaht".

Actually those A's really stand for "Age Appropriate" so he's doing well. The comments was that he's a pleasure to have in class, he likes to help his friends take coats off if they need help and his favorite time is when he's playing outside. He got "SD" (Still developing) with doing buttons, and displaying self-control.

I got a chuckle out of that one because as a 2 year old, isn't that supposed to be his biggest issue is that he has no self- control?? So in reality, wouldn't that be considered "Age Appropriate". But overall, everything is going very well & he's progressing nicely!

They don't call it the Terrible Twos for nothing!

Sick Day...

Today, Alexander stayed home from school.

He wasn't really sick but the school rule is that if the child has a fever, they have to be out of school for 24 hours. And Alexander had a fever last night because of his teeth so unfortunately even though he's fine, he couldn't go to school, even though he did not have a fever when he woke up...

Daddy stayed home with Alexander and the two of them had a very busy day! They went for a walk, went to the playground, went to the lake and threw rocks in the water, had naptime, ate lunch, played outside, did some painting, played catch!

By the time Mommy got home, Alexander was running around as if nothing bothered him just 24 hours before...and to finish a Daddy/Alexander filled day, they watched MASH on the couch. (I like how Alexander is imitating Daddy with his legs...)
