PawSox Game...

After honoring our troops, what's the next best way to celebrate Memorial Day?? A baseball game of course! He was so good, standing still, with his hand up for the National Anthem. We went to the Pawtucket Red Sox game and Alexander had an absolute blast! He got to see Sox (the female pup and she even signed a ball for him!)...we did look for Paws but he was a sneaky little pup and we never found him on the concourse. In true baseball fashion, he had a hot dog, peanuts, french fries & popcorn! And seemed to want more!
He loved sitting there with his glove waiting for any fly balls...there were at least a half dozen or so that came near us but not close enough for us to bring one home.

Weekly Glance (Monday, May 24th - Sunday, May 30th, 2010)

  • Very good week at school - great listening, good helper, got two rewards for helping clean-up, no issues with friends!
  • Bedtime was pretty erratic - wanting to play for a good hour after being tucked in
  • Sleeping was kind of a mixture of one night he would spend the night in bed, then the next night he would wake around 2:40am and come to cuddle with Mommy only to then kick Mommy for the next 3 hours
  • Went to Stop & Shop with Mommy and did a great job scanning the food
  • Helped Daddy mow the lawn and then played some baseball before dinner a few nights
  • Friday night, went to Target with Mommy and was very well behaved
  • Daddy's morning was Saturday and the boys had some breakfast and then went out to tackle the yard - weeding, raking, and cleaning up the garden
  • Then the went to the dump & Home Depot
  • Saturday afternoon we went to our friends, Kirk & Deanna, for a small BBQ
  • Alexander played very nicely with their daughter Marina (she's 15 months) - he loved having her chase after him and never once got rough with her
  • Fast asleep in the car-ride home!
  • Sunday morning was Mommy's morning and he didn't wake up at the crack of dawn (shocker!)
  • After some breakfast, we headed out to pick up our pictures from a few weeks ago & grocery shopping
  • While out, we stopped for lunch and then walked around to wear him out (this would come back to bite me sooner than I hoped)
  • After lunch, we went grocery shopping and buying broccoli set off a meltdown which proceeded to follow us throughout the entire store - obviously he was very tired but it hit before we got home!
  • Once at home, he didn't want to rest but desperately needed it so Daddy took him for a ride
  • He ended up napping for almost 3 hours!
  • After his late afternoon nap, we all played outside with Neighbor Jon, his girlfriend & the kiddies - Alexander had a blast playing ball!
  • Headed to bed around 9:30pm...and he was up playing until almost 11pm. He even took two bottles of water from Mommy's room and ended up dumping them on his bed (had to change sheets) as he tried to drink them
  • Two more 2 yr molars have broken through - just one more!
  • Two new shows to add to the list: Max & Ruby & Yo Gabba Gabba...Mommy is not a fan of Max & Ruby and he hasn't seen enough Yo Gabba Gabba but sees the previews for it

Flossy...

Today was another big step with becoming an independent little boy. He began flossing. And the best part, he is now asking to do it on his own.

Last night, he had some apple skin stuck in his teeth and brushing wouldn't get it out. So I attempted flossing which I expected to be welcomed with a meltdown. However I was pleasantly surprised - he was all for it!

And now he can't seem to get enough! Hoping this trend continues...

Simon Says...

In the car this morning, while driving to school, Alexander starting playing "Simon Says" with himself.

"Simon says touch your head, simon says touch your hair, simon says touch your nose..."

Then he asks me if I would play along with him.

"Mommy play with me...Simon says touch your head. Simon says touch your bum. Simon says touch your penis".

OKAY.....Time out.

I explain to Alexander that we don't want to use that as part of Simon says games and we should keep them. I also had to explain to him that I don't have a penis and since not all of his friends have one that he really doesn't have to use that in the game as he doesn't want to make his friends feel left out.

Oh the joys of a boy!

Weekly Glance...

Weekly Glance (Monday, May 17th - Sunday, May 23rd, 2010)

  • Had a up/down week at school - Monday was a very bad day: no listening, lots of screaming/running, and whining. However thankfully his teachers knew to expect it knowing Mommy was gone all weekend
  • Has a new bedtime habit of after books and being tucked in, he'll turn on his light and play with his toys. He's played ball, games, trucks, and just running around and around. Daddy will have to tell him that it's time to shut the light off and head to bed
  • Tuesday was a Mommy & Alexander day - we went out to lunch, went to a photoshoot to get 3rd year pics taken, and had a good afternoon together (he even napped at home)
  • Went to Stop & Shop with Mommy on Thursday - it's turning into his new place because he can pick out all kinds of fruit
  • Pee'd in the potty standing up on Thursday night
  • After potty moment, did his 'pee-pee' dance for some laughs but then quickly turned sad with the thought of diaper cream for his red bum
  • Family pizza dinner on Friday night
  • Saturday morning was Mommy's morning - we woke up at 5am, hung out in bed, then went downstairs for breakfast. We relaxed a bit and then he helped me fold laundry, vacuum and then we worked in our "I love school" book to help practice letters/numbers
  • Helped Daddy with the lawn Saturday afternoon as the "snow" fell from our trees
  • After the lawn, the boys went to the Home Depot and Alexander ended up falling asleep
  • Sunday morning was Daddy's morning and Alexander woke up at 6am (it's amazing)
  • The boys went for their summer walk to Dunkin Donuts, gazebo and then the playground
  • Played a bit outside after lunch but then was starting to get antsy so went for a ride with Daddy and then ended up coming up shortly after and took a nap for almost 2 1/2 hours
  • Family dinner and tubby time before his nightly bedtime rituals kicked in
  • Observation of the week - definitely has more "meltdowns" when the two of us are around and then plays it up with a "Mommy" and then a "Daddy" whine. He's usually pretty good when he's with just one of us, however he does have a tendency to have them more often than not when with Mommy vs Daddy

Blog Updating...

Thank you, yet again, for your patience re: blog updating. However, our internet was unavailable all weekend so I was unable to update his blog. Hopefully it kicks back in (even after my 25 min call to the provider) SOON.

School Proofs...

We got the proofs back from Alexander's school picture day. He's so cute and I selfishly love how he is posing with his hands. We still haven't decided which one is the winner yet...

Potty Time...

One more step towards potty training although we're still no where close to being potty trained...but tonight before tubby, Alexander went pee in the potty standing up!

He was pretty excited about it and then he just stood off to the corner and couldn't decide if he "has more pee to come out". So he also did his first "pee-pee" dance which was quite hysterical.

So it was a very good night as we move forward with potty training however the mood did change quickly has I had to put diaper cream on his bum (he had a diaper rash) and he was so upset about it that he did end up peeing again but this time on the floor, which then only made himself more upset.

Even though I did tell him how great it was that he went in the big boy potty and how funny his new dance was...that didn't help the thought of the diaper cream.

Quote

One of the most random quotes, conversation took place right after bedtime books:

Alexander: "But Mommy, I'm a nice guy"
Mommy: "oh really?"
Alexander: "yeah everyone knows"

Quote of the Week...

Latest Quote while driving in the car today:

Alexander: "Mommy, do you have a penis?"
Mommy: "Nope"
Alexander: "oh, okay. Well I do and it's big"

Photoshoot...

Today, Alexander and I spent the day together since I had been gone for a few days. It was a great Mommy & Alexander day. I had made an appointment to get his 3rd year photos taken and then figured we'd do lunch and hang out.

For the photos, I went to a new place this time and I have to say how impressed I was with no only the studio, but the photographer! She truly worked with him to make it fun yet still get poses out of him that didn't look fake. She took about 25 pictures in a 20 minute span and most of them were so incredibly cute! She went for serious, fun, and just overall silly. I can't wait to get the actual photos once they come in!

First Time for Everything...

So despite being away for a few days, Alexander had one of *those* moments that every Mommy dreads.

Today, I took the day off to spend with Alexander since I hadn't seen him. We went out to lunch, ran a few errands and went to get his 3 year pictures taken. Well, after pictures Alexander started to meltdown due to the fact he was tired. He didn't want to hold my hand in the parking garage so I went to pick him up and he got mad. So he sat on the floor of the parking garage crying (yes, I made sure it was out of the way of cars and I stood block). Finally he looked at me and said "I don't like you very much, Mommy"

At first I was a bit sad but I knew he was utterly exhausted because then he looked at me, cried some more and I asked if he still didn't like me and he said "noooooo, I need a hug".

But man for a few seconds my stomach sank...good thing we did had a cuddle-hug to make up for it!
