Trick or Treat...

Trick or Treat...

This year, Mimi & Mommy got Superman all decked out ready for trick or treating!
We went to the three neighbors first, and then we decided to hit the center of town. Mrs. M told us that it's the place where everyone in the town goes. Well she was right! Police blocked off the street, and it was packed!
There were lines to get to some houses and folks did a great job of getting the street in the Halloween spirit. There were decorations, lights, mini-haunted houses!
One house even had popcorn makers & a GIANT tv screen outside with the Patriots game on - Brilliant!Alexander did a great job - he wasn't afraid of any of the spooky costumes and even went right up to some houses all by himself. He said "trick or treat" "Happy Halloween" and politely used his manners. Many people commented at how cute & polite the little Superman was!
We went down one side of the street & then back up to most of the houses before Superman had to use the bathroom. So we took that as our queue to call it a night.A successful Superhero Halloween

The annual Halloween Parade at school...was a huge success! All the kids were dressed up in cute costumes & there was a huge turnout by the parents. There had to have been at least 40-50 parents there to enjoy the parade!Alexander's class had a Superman, two Spidermans, three Firemen, Thing 1 & Thing 2 & lots of princesses! My handsome Superman - his expression is priceless!

Quotes, Quotes & More Quotes...

Yet another one of my favorite of this week (he learned from his teachers at school)

Sit down. Close your eyes. Think about it. Raise your hands when you're ready to share with the class.

Quotes

One of the latest ones that really make me chuckle

Mom, I'm being serious. You need to listen to my directions first.

Weekly Glance...

Weekly Glance (Monday, October 18th - Sunday, October 24th, 2010)

  • Had a pretty good week at school
  • Only one timeout all week but was cranky a few days
  • Sleeping wasn't great - he woke up during the night & came in to 'cuddle with Mom' every night but one
  • Final wake-up times were great and later than 5:45am, if only he'd sleep through the night in his own bed
  • Bedtime had quite a few nights where he kept fighting bedtime - Friday night was the worst: he was up until 10:48 PM!
  • Potty accidents were sporadic during the week...he had four on Monday, one on Tuesday, and then none for the rest of the week until one big one on Sunday
  • Did well at school this week - played with his friends, colored a pumpkin, and played with Miss Cassie, he also used his words and told his teachers when he didn't want to talk to his friends
  • Mommy & Alexander went to Dr. M's office for his flu shot on Thursday (see separate flu shot post)
  • After Dr. M's office, we went to McDonalds for a good treat
  • While heading home from school on Friday, Daddy & Alexander stopped at Uncle Matt's to change Daddy's flat tire
  • Saturday morning he woke up at 6:40am
  • Saturday, Daddy & Alexander went to soccer, then went to lunch with Aidan's dad & sister, then they went to the playground
  • Alexander did a much better job at soccer this week - he listened to Coach Chip & Coach Priya. When he started to get antsy, Daddy would pull him aside to chat about how important it is to listen to Coach Chip
  • Relaxed at home Saturday afternoon
  • Mommy, Daddy & Alexander went out to dinner Saturday night
  • Sunday morning he woke up at 6:30am
  • Ran a few errands with Daddy in the morning
  • Mimi, Papi & Auntie over to celebrate Auntie's birthday
  • Went out to lunch to celebrate, then came back to our house for presents & cake
  • Played baseball outside & relaxed with Auntie & watched Little Mermaid

Flu Shot...

This afternoon Alexander had his yearly flu shot. I had been prepping him that we were going to Dr. M's office for a flu check-up and he seemed fine with it. In fact he was even excited we were going. I didn't tell him about the shot until a bit before and even still seemed fine.

We were going to see Dr. D this time and Alexander was super excited. We played with his cars in the waiting room without incidents. It was our time and Dr. D came out to get us. She was very friendly and Alexander couldn't wait to follow her into her room.

We explained to him that he was getting a flu check-up and that he was going to get a shot in his leg. "Oh Mom" And with that it was over - it was quick.

And while he didn't actually cry, his eyes did well up and he looked so sad. Even Dr. D said that it was those moments that broke her heart where the kids didn't cry but looked so sad. Alexander just sat on my lap and then said "but Mommy it hurts". So Dr. D rubbed his thigh a bit & put on a band-aid and in about 1 minute, he was good as new.

I even got him to stand on the scale (a whopping 33.6 lbs)!

After the doctor visit, we went to McDonald's for a little treat and headed home. He fell asleep on the way home which was probably because he didn't nap at school. I expected to have a long night with him during bedtime since he fell asleep but nope...I was able to get him partially changed and in bed. He ended up sleeping for almost 11 1/2 hours!
