Summer Fun...

Today we went to the Davis Farmland/Water park to enjoy the nice day!

Alexander loved "seeing" all of the animals and loved the thought of feeding them, but he wanted NO PART of going anywhere near them!Mommy & I going for a tractor rideHowever he did have a pony ride and he asked to go all by himself!Daddy suggested the hayride and Alexander loved it

Hair Cut time...

Alexander's hair was getting a bit long, therefore time for a haircut!

We're such a long way from the first few times where he screamed, cried, & fought to get away! Now, he sits so quietly & sometimes giggles from the buzzer. He's now so excited to get his haircut!

Project Time...

Mimi & Papi were here for a sleep-over as Mommy & Daddy went to NYC to see Harry Connick Jr.

While here, Mimi had a cool project for them to do together! It would also serve as a present for Mommy & Daddy's garden (and also match the other one). They mixed the cement & put in glass/stones for a stepping stone that you place in your yard/garden! He even put his initials in it!

*Only doing one weekly Photo Recap as most of the photos from the week are in the Vacation Photo Recap posts

Weekly Glance...

Weekly Glance (Monday, July 19th - Sunday, July 25th, 2010)
*Most of the detailed updates of the week can be found on the Vacation Update Post

  • Vacation!
  • We went to Chatham for the week & stayed at my aunt's house
  • Beach, Beach & more Beach...
  • Did a great job swimming
  • Because we had him out all day & he was in the sun/water, he went down pretty well for bedtime each night (albeit a bit later than usual)
  • Potty was also pretty good - he always told us when he had to use the potty when we were at the beach; most times he wore a pull-up when at the house to avoid any accidents but he still did well about using the potty
  • Potty Note: He has been inducted into the "World of Boys" as we were driving to breakfast one morning and he had to pee and only had underwear on. So, we stopped on the side of the road and had him go pee as he stood in between the two car doors...
  • Friday morning, Mommy & Alexander hung out as we unpacked
  • Then we picked up Mommy's car now that the repairs are complete, then Daddy & Alexander went for a drive (which Alexander napped)
  • we chilled out at home as it was rainy
  • Saturday, went to Dunkin Donuts & the gazebo with Daddy
  • Then we all went to the town beach to get some sun/water in before the rain
  • Had several potty accidents at home Saturday afternoon despite doing so well with going potty at the beach
  • Sunday, Mommy & Alexander went to swim class
  • Then Mimi & Papi over for the day/night for a sleep-over as Mommy & Daddy are going to see Harry Connick Jr on Broadway

Vacation Recap...

Recap of our Summer Vacation:

Sunday 7/18
*Packed up the car and headed out around 8pm to avoid any traffic, let Alexander fall asleep & so we'd get an early start the next morning
*Arrived at the house around 11p after taking the wrong bridge and dealing with Rt 28's lights vs. Rt 6's straight shot
*Alexander was out like a light and we just put him on the bed where he was quite content

Monday 7/19
*Alexander was up at 6am (even though he fell asleep at 10p the night before); he & Daddy headed out to Dunkin Donuts & the playground. They also went to the Pier where they saw boats load/unload & a seal was at the end of the docks breathing out his nose
*After the playground, we headed to Claflin Landing (a beach near the Chatham Pier)...the water was pretty cold but the beach wasn't crowded and had lots of good places to dig for crabs, starfish & shells
*No one went into the water passed their knees but we enjoyed the sun, water, the view and the boys did some digging. Then a couple families showed up and the boys started playing baseball together
*Storm started to roll in so we headed out around lunchtime and went to a pizza shop for some lunch, while there the storm arrived!
*Back at the house, the boys napped while Mommy went to Stop & Shop (with the rest of the Cape) for some groceries for the week
*Headed out for dinner & Alexander slept thru the entire meal at a pretty noisy little place
*Back home, Alexander ate his dinner and then we relaxed before bedtime
*Bedtime was pretty easy - after books, Alexander went right to bed around 9:30pm

Tuesday 7/20
*Another 6am wake-up call
*Mommy was planning to take him to the playground but Alexander only wanted Daddy so instead Daddy took him while Mommy packed for the beach
*Headed out to a new beach, the children beach, at Oyster Pond (the bay)...a much better beach for kids plus the water was warmer which made it more enjoyable for swimming
*Swimming, swimming & more swimming - he did great with and without his swimvest
*He even went underwater!
*One point, he & Daddy swam out to the dock and then the little daredevil jumped off the dock several times
*After the beach, back at the house where we cleaned up in the outdoor shower
*The boys took a nap while Mommy went to Main Street for some t-shirts and then came back and read in the backyard (so peaceful/relaxing)
*Dinner at home then we went to check out the lighthouse, airport and walk around Main Street
*Bedtime at 10pm, went right down after books

Wednesday 7/21
*6am wake up call
*Same routine as Daddy & Alexander went to Dunkin Donuts & the playground, he even got to go on the big ball field
*Headed back to the children beach for another day of sun, sand & swimming!
*Did a great job swimming again with & without the vest; loved going underwater
*After lunch & ice cream from the ice cream truck, we did a bit more swimming before we went back to the house to wash up
*We went to go play mini-golf & Alexander did pretty well (however he did block a couple good shots)
*After mini-golf, we got some ice cream before going for a drive (intended for napping)
*Finally, he fell asleep after quite some driving so we decided to drive up to Provincetown for dinner so he'd get a good nap in
*Dinner then walking around the pier in P-Town before some rain showers arrived
*Got to visit bubbles, the whale, then we saw a rainbow while on the pier
*Drove back to the "Cape House" as Alexander called it to which Alexander was in bed after books by 10:15pm

Thursday 7/22
*Woke up around 3:30am, came in with Mommy & Daddy and then slept til....drum roll...... 8:30am on Mommy's morning!
*All headed to breakfast at the airport but all Alexander wanted to do was go outside to either see planes or play in the mini play area
*Headed back to the children beach where we did more swimming, digging, eating ice cream
*Back at the house to get cleaned up & ready for dinner and the baseball game (he was looking forward to this all week)
*Daddy & Alexander went for a drive (aka: nap) while Mommy cleaned/packed up so we'd be ready to go after the baseball game
*Hung out with family friends who came to the house for the weekend (cross-over visit) where he played baseball in the backyard
*Headed to the field where we got our spot to watch the game - halfway thru Alexander wanted to go over to the playground and also use the potty (which he did well three times)
*Got Alexander cleaned up & in jammies for the ride home and we left in the 9th inning to head home
*Asleep in the car by 10:15pm, home by 11:30pm

Friday 7/23
*Woke up with Mommy (6am) and helped do some unpacking & cleaning
*Went to the playground with Daddy to get out of the house
*Went to pick up Mommy's car then drove around with Daddy for a nap (rainy day)

Saturday 7/24
*Woke up at 7am (Daddy's morning) and they headed to a new playground
*Getting a bit antsy/cranky, so we went to the local town beach before the rain came
*Swam a bit & jumped off the docks but didn't want to jump by himself
*Home to chill out (which consisted of watching tv, having some potty accidents, then getting crabby)
*Family dinner followed by shower time
*Bedtime at 7:45pm - he was asleep quite quickly tonight, even asked for lights out

Sunday 7/25
*Swim class with Mommy
*Mimi & Papi over for a sleep-over (Mommy & Daddy going to see Harry Connick Jr on Broadway)

Vacation Video...

Here's a brief, yet cute video of Alexander practicing going underwater.

Hello Mudda...

One of the funniest/curious things Alexander started doing during vacation is calling Daddy by a new name. He started calling him 'Fadda' out of the blue. Don't really know where it came from but I found it to be hilarious!

We would be at the beach and he would yell out "Fadda, oh Fadda" and then a bit later he would say, loudly, "Fadda I have to go pee".

He called him by that name for the good part of two days and I think the fact that I kept laughing made him say it more. A bit later on he would say "he's the Fadda but you're the Mudda"... Priceless!
