Quote of the Week...

We have a few more fun/entertaining quotes from this week:

  1. "Mommy, I am going to sleep in my bed alllll night to make you Mommy proud" - said completely out of the blue without any prompting. This is one of my favorites however he didn't spend the whole night in his room
  2. "Yes, Mommy, I hear you" - when asked if he had his listening ears on and if he heard me since he was still being fresh
  3. "I would like just a smidge of milk" - when asked how much milk he wanted
  4. "I'm just chillin" - when asked what he was doing

Typical Boy...

And in typical fashion...there are many times a day where he must hear: "Alexander get your finger out of your nose"

Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

Alexander singing the old classic favorite...he needed a bit of coaching from Mommy & Daddy here:

But certainly not here - he did this one all by himself with only one interruption from Mommy & Daddy to help get him back on track

Weekly Glance...

Weekly Glance (Monday, April 19th - Sunday, April 25th, 2010)

  • Fairly low-key week at school
  • Sleeping is about the same - most night he wakes up and comes in to cuddle with Mommy although there were a couple nights where he slept the whole night in his room/bed
  • He's in that frustrated stage where he doesn't have the words so he screams/throws/angry...it made for a very long car ride home on Monday and then he had two rough mornings at school
  • Went to Stop & Shop with Mommy on Wednesday for fruit - he loves watermelon!
  • On Thursday, he was waking up from nap and a friend got into his face in a playing manner but Alexander yelled and said "Shut up". And since we don't say that we have no idea where this came from...Daddy & Alexander had a long talk about that one
  • Alexander got sick (threw up & fever) at school on Friday - Mommy came to pick him up
  • Mommy & Alexander rested at home for the day and his idea of nap-time was different than mine as he read some books and then went to lay down in Mommy's room to watch tv
  • After a bit of vomiting in the wee-hours of Saturday, felt better during the day and helped Daddy outside with the lawn
  • Family dinner on Saturday and then bedtime was a breeze as he was pooped with a small fever
  • Sunday morning was low-key with Mommy (Daddy went out fishing)
  • Mimi & Papi came over to have a play-date with Brandon

Playdate Time...

On Sunday, Alexander went for a play-date with Mimi & Papi to visit with Brandon (Brandon is the grandson of Ellie & Ernie who are friends of Mimi & Papi). They went to an indoor play area so the boys could play around! And that they did - they had a blast! They got to jump in the jumpy house, play in the Dragon Castle, and ride little bikes around a track!
And then to top the day off - they got some ice cream! The boys had a great time together and they have decided they want to go to the playground to watch planes for their next play-date.Per usual, I blocked out Brandon's face

Sick Time...

For the second Friday in a row, I got a call from school that Alexander got sick. This time was a bit different.

He was playing around and not listening so he was getting really frustrated. He started to throw something so Ms. Lindsay asked him to sit down to calm himself. He was crying & screaming quite hard that he got himself sick. This is very unlike himself as he's never cried so hard that he made himself get sick. Ms. Lindsay tried to calm him down by a hug and noticed he was quite warm. After a temp check, he had higher than normal fever. He went to cuddle with Ms. Jenny in the office until Mommy got there. He fell asleep on his little mat in the office and just wanted to cuddle once Mommy came to pick him up.

We headed home to rest. Of course, when we got home, he wanted no part of sleeping although he couldn't keep his eyes open at school. However he did spend most of the afternoon resting. We rested for a bit in Mommy's room, then we had lunch (which he kept down), and then I told him that after lunch he was going to have naptime. He agreed - which seemed odd.

After lunch, we went upstairs & read some books and I tucked him in. Then he told me he didn't want to sleep. I told him that because he came home sick from school, he needed nap if not resting. So he agreed to sit and read books quietly. I went downstairs and heard him reading his books for awhile and then it got quiet so I figured he fell asleep. Finally, an hour & a half later I heard a couple bumps upstairs I go up to check it out and he's coming out of our room. I asked him what he was doing. He said he was lying in Mommy's bed watching tv. Oh my. It was very funny/cute how he explained it, as if that's how everyone naps.

This was him right before bedtime, after explaining to Daddy how he "don't feel really really good":
He pretty much had a low fever throughout the day/night but Motrin helped reduce it. Then around 1:20am Saturday morning, he walked into our room crying for "Mommy" and then as I'm asking him how he's feeling he vomits at me. Yes, at me. I try to keep him in one spot so it doesn't get everywhere but he keeps walking around and threw up a few more times. It was late and dark so I had no idea where it was going. We changed jammies and put blankie & monkey in the hamper to get a tubby in the morning.

Saturday was a bit better...he still had a low fever but no vomiting. And after some motrin before bed on Saturday, he was back to normal. He slept in his bed all night and woke up feeling much better.

Monthly Update...

Monthly Update - April 2010

A lot of things are the same from last month in regards to eating, sleeping, favorites, etc. However here are two updates for this Month's Update that is a bit different.

  1. Temper tantrums are in full swing - complete with screaming, yelling, grunting & throwing things! There is no rhyme or reason why they happen and most times they happen with or at Mommy. One night driving home, his tantrum was so bad that he got mad at Mommy for looking at him and proceeded to scream, hit his chair, and then take off his shoe and throw it at me. Needless to say it was not one of his better moments and he spent the rest of the car ride with no music or no talking. He was not a happy camper, however as soon as he got home he was back to being the cute, happy little kid.
Where's my nice, well-behaved little boy? Has anyone seen him?

  2. One of his lower-back molars has broken through...maybe that's what's a causing factor in his recent fevers as well as a contributing factor in point #1
