Sleeping Breakthrough...

Lately, Alexander has been waking up during the night. Sometimes, he's okay if you rub his back but most times he's not. He wants to be picked up, or rocked, or brought into our bed. We had a week long period where he just kept waking up for what seemed to be no reason.

Two nights, he came in with us and kept me up. I went to go rock with him for over an hour, put him back in his crib only to have him wake up screaming 30 minutes later. You can fall back into a deep sleep but being woken up is not fun...

Finally, on Tuesday night (or Wednesday wee-morning) I decided that I was going to let him cry it out. We had to try to break the cycle. Neither of us got up and we let him cry. He cried for about 20 minutes and then finally fell back to sleep.

The next night, he woke up again and we let him cry. This time he only cried for 7 minutes! He fell back to sleep. But the best part is that since then, he has yet to wake up during the night and he's been sleeping until at least 5:30am!
